The Anarchist Book Fair Stockholm opens again its doors to a book fair with lectures,
seminars and book stalls the 22th of august in Solidarity House, Södermalm, Stockholm.
---- In today's political climate when attacks are focused toward minorities,
LGBT-struggle, international solidarity and grassroots movement the need for a radical
political struggle becomes more and more important. Our goal is to let the anarchist book
fair be a part of the movement that is needed to face these threats and to create a space
where ideas can meet and where we can look upon international as well as national
struggles from perspectives that are usually missing in the public debate, a meeting space
for activists as well as others with an interest in an anarchist theory and practice.
The main theme of the book fair will be about principles within anarchism as changing
methods and how we can apply these principles in our everyday life. Our anarchism has
always been a heterogeneous and dynamic ideology adapted to the prevailing situation and
social development. Those principles may include to criticize authority and to find other
non-authoritarian ways to organize, whether the idea is to criticize patriarchal
structures, capitalistic structures in our everyday life, or other types of hierarchy in
our workplaces. It is about seeing the importance of daring to use direct action as a
method for change instead of relying on political parties and other hierarchical institutions.
We will pay attention to this through lectures and seminars on the theme of anarchist
principles in relation to minorities, LGBT-struggle, international solidarity and
grassroots movement and more. We need your help to make this book fair as successful as
possible, so if you or an organization in which you are active can contribute something so
please let us know. Firstly, if you want to be active with the organization and planning
of the anarchist book fair or whether you are interested in having a stall or hold a
seminar or lecture during the fair.
The anarchist book fair is an event open to all and it is now possible to announce your
interest to us. State organization, contact information (person, number and email), and
the preamble to your lectures or activities. Organizations must specify number of tables
and pay a recommended fee of 100 Swedish kroner or 10 euros per table. If the cost would
prevent you from attending, then please contact us for a solution.
