resistance 1 - Lyon Pride: Strong mobilization for a birthday
walk (fr, it, pt) [machine translation] (a-infos-en@ainfos.ca)
On Saturday, June 20, over 15,000 people were in the street in Lyon during the Gay Pride.
This was the twentieth Gay Pride Lyon (held for the first time in 1995). Behind the slogan
"Proud 1995-2015 · E · s continue our struggles ... to walk! "It was noted that if the
LGBT movement has achieved a number of victories in recent years (most recently is the
opening of marriage to same-sex couples), there is still some way to go to equal Rights:
opening of the PMA (Medically Assisted Procreation) with lesbians couples, facilitation of
change in marital status for trans people ... ---- The group of CGA-Lyon was present at
the march in the procession "policy" with other associations and groups (lesbian
collective, Chrysalis, Family Planning, garden t ...). This slightly more than in previous
years provided unfortunately shows that the political interest of the walk is increasingly
set aside in relation to different festive processions.
But this walk has unfortunately also reveals the complacency of the Prefecture to the
local far-right, with the prohibition of the passage of the demonstration in the district
of Old Lyon, preserve of 'nationalist' premises (including one finds there premises
Identitaires and Young Nation - Former French and Nationalists Youth Work - and where
fascists and racist attacks are commonplace).
This is not the first time that such a decision is taken by the prefecture under the guise
of "disturbing public order" leaves this area to the hands and the violence of the local
extreme right.
Decision particularly disgraceful that the prefecture had, however, authorized two
reactionary rallies on 8 and 18 June against the GPA in the same district in which one of
them had ended in wild demonstration in the center of the neighborhood.
On all fronts, more needs to fight for Equality!?
